Widely acknowledged as one of the Country’s leading Jump tracks, the course successfully staged its first ever flat racing fixture in 2015 and hosts three flat meetings this year.

The highlights in Wetherby’s calendar include the bet365 Charlie Hall Meeting in early November and the Yorkshire Christmas Meeting on Boxing Day and 27th December. Plus there’s the Poundland Mascot Gold Cup, family days, Ladies’ Day and a couple of evening flat meetings.

Ticket Options
There are three enclosures at Wetherby, the Premier Enclosure, Paddock Enclosure and Course Enclosure.

With a Premier Enclosure badge, racegoers have access to the whole racecourse, including the Millennium stand and covered, elevated seating in the Grandstand opposite the winning post. Prices start from £23.

All the facilities in the Paddock Enclosure are situated on ground floor level and give access to the pre-parade ring and parade ring as well as up close to the finish line, plus there’s a variety of food and drink outlets. Prices start from £16.

The Course Enclosure is situated in the centre of the track and includes catering and betting facilities. There is the option to park your car in the centre as well. Prices tart from £6.

Accompanied Under 18’s race free and discounts are available for students, over 66s and group bookings.

The Racecourse Experience

A variety of hospitality packages are available at Wetherby. Private suites can be booked in the Millennium Stand, each with a private viewing balcony and the option of formal dining or a hot and cold fork buffet.

The Dine and View package is a shared facility, suitable for smaller parties. Guests are welcomed with coffee and biscuits, before enjoying a four-course grand buffet menu.

For something less formal, the White Rose Bistro package offers a table for the day, Premier Enclosure admission, a racecard and two course bistro menu, followed by tea or coffee. Prices start from £61 per person and it is not available at feature plus meetings.

Plan Your Day
Car parking is free and the closest train stations are York, Harrogate and Leeds which are 12 – 15 miles from the course. There are numerous bus links to Wetherby and the course is a 35 minute walk from Wetherby town centre. A free shuttle bus service from the town to the course operates on select days.n

Card payments only are available on the gate on the day but cash is accepted inside the course.

The renowned racing historian, J. Fairfax-Blakeborough was convinced that the first organised race meeting in the British Isles took place at Netherby on the banks of the River Wharfe, near Wetherby in AD206, involving Arab horses and chariot races by the Romans under Emperor Severus, who was based at Eboracum (York). Evidence shows that there was racing at nearby Clifford Moor in Easter week 1683.

In 1842, a track was laid down at Linton and there were regular meetings until the final fixture in 1890. A course was then established on the present site on York Road, with the first meeting taking place on Easter Monday, 1891.
