Success For Golden Prosperity
Thirsk’s Superhero Family Day provided the background to the latest round in the Go Racing In Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Series, supported by White Rose Saddlery.
There was a large crowd for the superhero and Disney Princess themed day where the sun shone gloriously, adding to the occasion.
10 horses went to post on ground that was described as good to firm for the six-furlong sprint.
Initially, the eye was caught by Bellagio Man, who jumped out of the stalls very awkwardly and was all but tailed off in the first half-furlong. On the flip side, Antony Brittain’s other runner, Eldeyaar, ridden by Jake Dickson got a much better start and coming out of stall two, raced in isolation near the far side rail, but up with the pace.
Sanbona and Rhys Elliott headed the main pack over the first furlong, about a length in front of Crocus Time and Morgan Cole with the favourite, Filey Beach under Warren Fentiman and Golden Prospertity partnered by Tom Kiely-Marshall, racing together a length further back.
Racing at speeds of up to 42mph by the half-way point, Eldeyaar was still out on his own, but the main contenders were beginning to get closer together. With a furlong and a half to go, Crocus Point had edged into the lead, but Tom Kiely-Marshall started to get to work on Golden Prosperity and he made his way forward to join to Crocus Time and take over.
My Boy Jack, ridden by Alfie Gee came with a wet sail from near last to join the front runners, but Golden Prosperity was always doing enough to get over the line in front and won by a neck to My Boy Jack, with Crocus Time three quarters of a length further back in third.
On the leaderboard, Mason Paetel retains his lead with 48 points. Archie Young is in second on 32 and Tom Kiely-Marshall goes into a clear third with 20 points.
Round seven takes Place at Pontefract on Thursday, September 18.
