Yorkshire Beacon Project
Saving Lives
Go Racing In Yorkshire’s award winning partnership with the Bowel Cancer Screening teams across Yorkshire’s NHS Trusts is working to save lives.
In conjunction with Yorkshire’s nine racecourses, the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme racedays aim to raise awareness among the target age group in order to aid early detection and in some cases prevent the fourth most common type of cancer.
Bowel Cancer Screening is available to anyone aged 54 to 74 and is being extended to those aged 50 to 53. Kits are automatically sent to those in the age group, registered with a GP and the idea behind the raceday partnership is to encourage the use of the kits and to answer any questions racegoers might have about the disease.
Following the success in 2024, we will be extending our Bowel Cancer Screening Racedays into 2025. There will be one raceday per month and representatives from the relevant NHS teams will be in attendance. For a full list of dates, please visit the Yorkshire Beacon page.
