A gorgeous sunny day brought racegoers to the Westwood in their droves, where the opening race on the card was the Go Racing In Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Handicap.
The five furlong sprint took place on ground that was officially good to firm, good in places and nine runners went to post, for the fifth race in the series, supported by White Rose Saddlery.
Ishe Worth Agamble jumped forward and dived to the right out of the stalls, but his rider Alex Fielding was able to maintain the partnership and got the rail. Lady Bouquet was quickly into stride under William Pyle and just took the lead, with Ninety Nine and Zak Wheatley close up in second and as they crossed the round course Ifonlytheycudtalk, ridden by Ethan Tindall took third.
With two furlongs to go, Lady Bouquet started to extend her lead but Dollarindex was driven by Aiden Brookes in an effort to stay with her. Warrendale Wagyu and Showboated were hot in pursuit but Lady Bouquet managed to keep her head in front to make this a pillar to post victory.
This was jockey William Pyle’s third victory in the series, putting him well clear on 60 points. Sean Dylan Bowen and Same Feilden remain in second and third positions with 28 and 27 points and without a ride in the race, were not able to add to their tally.
Round six takes place at Redcar Racecourse on Sunday 21st July, which is part of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, sponsored by Sky Bet.
