The highly popular Malton Open Day 2026, organised by Racing Welfare, will take place on Sunday 6th September, with top-class training yards opening their doors to give racing fans a behind-the-scenes look at the sport while raising funds for charity.

Visitors to the Malton Open Day, kindly sponsored by Arena Racing Company (ARC), will get to experience the unique sights, sounds and smells of training yards and gain a greater insight into the racing industry. The racing yards will be open to visitors from 08:45 until 12 noon. This year’s participating yards include:

Jack Berry House, the Injured Jockey’s Fund’s rehabilitation and fitness centre, will also be open for visits on the day from 11am-2pm.

Trainer Craig Lidster said: “Malton Open Day is a fantastic experience for people who don’t normally get to see the day-in and day-out of how a racehorse is prepared. It provides the opportunity to get up close and personal with our kind-natured racehorses and pose questions to the experienced and passionate racing staff, all whilst having a great family day out!”

In addition, Racing Welfare is once again partnering with York Racecourse to offer a combined ticket to attend both the ARC Malton Open Day and the YorkMix Family Raceday, allowing visitors to follow the journey from the training yard in the morning to the racecourse in the afternoon.

Offering a great family day out, the YorkMix Family Raceday will include top-class racing and family entertainment, with Malton Open Day combined tickets permitting entry to the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure at York Racecourse. Gates open from 11.15am, with racing and entertainment continuing into the afternoon.

Malton Open Day adult ticket: £10

Malton Open Day and York Racecourse combined ticket: £20

Under 18’s can attend both events free of charge but must be accompanied by an adult.
