Jump Season in Yorkshire 2026/27
Yorkshire’s jump season returns with 37 scheduled fixtures, bringing together top-class racing, festive traditions, family days and memorable social occasions across Catterick, Doncaster and Wetherby.
The season starts at Wetherby on Wednesday 14th October with a raceday that supports spinal research and gathers momentum with one of the highlights of the northern racing calendar: the Charlie Hall Chase taking place on Saturday 31st October, the second day of a two day meeting at the West Yorkshire course. The race is a prestigious early-season test for leading staying chasers and has long provided an exciting first glimpse of horses with ambitions for the major prizes later in the campaign.
Catterick and Doncaster both begin jump racing in November and don’t miss Wetherby’s Peak Cap and Pearls Raceday on Saturday 14th November, which mixes an exciting raceday with the fashions and scenery of 1920’s Britain – think Peaky Blinders! The British Horse Society charity race will also take place before racing starts.
Christmas is one of the most popular times to enjoy jump racing in Yorkshire, with festive fixtures taking place between 26th and 29th December. Wetherby’s Boxing Day meeting, the first of a two-day meeting, is a cherished Christmas tradition for many families and friends, combining competitive racing with a lively festive atmosphere.
The seasonal celebrations continue at Catterick on 28th December and then Doncaster, which hosts its Winter Family Fun Day on Tuesday 29th December. Alongside the action on the track, the meeting offers an entertaining day out for racegoers of all ages during the Christmas holidays.
Catterick then provides the perfect way to begin 2027 with its ever-popular New Year’s Day meeting. The North Yorkshire course is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, and the traditional fixture regularly attracts a bumper holiday crowd.
Later in the month, attention returns to Catterick for the North Yorkshire Grand National on Friday 15th January. The long-distance contest is one of the course’s most anticipated races and has been won several times by Sue Smith, who since being joined on the license by Joel Parkinson, was the leading trainer in Yorkshire last season.
The Great Yorkshire Chase Weekend takes place at Doncaster at the end of January, providing another major sporting highlight. The weekend combines high-quality jump racing with plenty of style off the track, including Doncaster’s Winter Best Dressed Competition.
There is much more to enjoy as the season moves towards spring. Catterick concludes its jump campaign with Countryside Ladies’ Day, bringing together racing, fashion and a celebration of the region’s rural community.
Wetherby’s final jump fixture of the season also supports an important cause. Its Wear A Hat Day raises funds for the Brain Tumour Charity, giving racegoers the opportunity to wear their finest, funniest or most eye-catching headwear while supporting vital work.
From prestigious races and winter traditions to family entertainment and stylish racedays, the 2026/27 jump season offers plenty of reasons to experience horse racing in Yorkshire.
