GO RACING IN YORKSHIRE CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF CHAMPIONING YORKSHIRE RACING

Go Racing In Yorkshire is celebrating a remarkable milestone in 2026 as the organisation marks its 50th anniversary of promoting, supporting and showcasing Yorkshire’s world-renowned horseracing industry.

Since its formation in 1976, Go Racing In Yorkshire has played a pivotal role in bringing together the county’s racecourses, trainers, jockeys, owners and racing enthusiasts, helping to establish Yorkshire as one of the leading racing regions in Britain.

Over the past five decades, the organisation has evolved from a collaborative marketing initiative into the recognised voice of Yorkshire racing, promoting more than 180 fixtures annually across the county’s nine racecourses and championing the sport to generations of racegoers.

From the historic Betfred St Leger Festival at Doncaster and York’s internationally acclaimed Sky Bet Ebor Festival, to family days, community initiatives and the hugely successful Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, sponsored by Sky Bet, the organisation has continually found new ways to welcome audiences old and new to the sport.

Chairman Ben Warn said:

“Reaching our 50th anniversary is a tremendous achievement and a moment of immense pride for everyone connected with Go Racing In Yorkshire.

“For half a century, Yorkshire’s racecourses have worked together with a shared vision – to celebrate and promote everything that makes racing in this county so special. The spirit of collaboration that inspired the organisation in 1976 remains as strong today as ever.

“Yorkshire has a rich racing heritage, exceptional racecourses and some of the finest people in the sport. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to our success over the past 50 years and look forward to building on that legacy for future generations.”

General Manager Charlotte Russell added:

“Go Racing In Yorkshire has always been about much more than racing. It’s about creating memorable experiences, supporting our local communities and showcasing the warmth and welcome for which Yorkshire is famous.

“As we celebrate this milestone, it’s also an opportunity to look ahead with confidence and ambition. We want to continue attracting new audiences, supporting the industry’s participants and ensuring that Yorkshire remains at the forefront of British racing for the next 50 years.”

The organisation’s achievements over the years include the introduction of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Season Ticket, innovative marketing campaigns, the development of themed initiatives and competitions, support for charitable causes, and the establishment of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, now one of the highlights of the county’s sporting calendar.

The 50th anniversary celebrations throughout 2026 will pay tribute to the people, horses and moments that have shaped Yorkshire racing over the past five decades, while embracing the excitement and opportunities that lie ahead.

As Go Racing In Yorkshire enters its next chapter, its mission remains unchanged: to celebrate Yorkshire’s racing heritage, inspire new audiences and ensure that the county continues to offer one of the finest racing experiences in the world.
