Thirsk Racecourse hosted the latest round of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Series, supported by White Rose Saddlery at their Superhero Family Day on Friday 7^th August.

Nine horses went to post for the six-furlong contest on good ground.

After a very even break, the field ran up the centre of the course, led in the early stages by last year’s winner, Golden Prosperity, in the hands of Jake Dickson on the far side, with Hurstwood, ridden by Ethan Tindall taking a keen hold on the stands side.

After two-furlongs, the pack split into two groups, before coming back together again. Newyorkstateofmind and Taryn Langley took it up on the near side, with Mrs Trump under Liam Wright poking her nose in front of Golden Prosperity for second and third and Tickets, partnered by Harry Vigors sat in fourth, although less than four lengths covered the field by the half way point.

With two-furlongs left to run, Cian Horgan got to work on Drish Samphire, while Golden Prosperity and Tickets were having their own battle.  Drish Samphire on the wide outside came with a good run to win by half a length at 50/1!

Golden Prosperity finished in second, a head in front of Mister Sky Blue and Tickets was a neck further back in fourth.

Finishing third on Mister Sky Blue keeps Connor Whiteley at the top of the table with 48 points, but the win took Cian Horgan into second with 33 points and Shay Farmer, who didn’t have a ride in the Thirsk race has dropped to third with 28 points.

The next race takes place at Pontefract on Thursday, 17^th September.
